Our
Trailer
One
of our former leaders, David S. Castle died at a
young age. Before his death, he told people
to not to bring flowers to the funeral, but money
that would be donated to the troop. Through
his generosity, we were able to buy our Troop 502
Trailer.

The
History of Our Troop
Our
troop was founded in 1961 as Troop 2 at Mt. Ida
Memorial Presbyterian Church (Present site of the
Cantebury House on Pawling Ave.) The troop later
became Troop 502 when the Uncle Sam Council
merged with other councils into the Twin Rivers
council. The troop then moved to Mt. Ida
Community Baptist Church on Congress St. in the
mid-1960's when the two congregations merged.
The
troop continues to provide scouting to the youth
in Albia and the East Side of Troy, as well as
the adjoing areas in the towns of Brunswick and
North Greenbush.
